Yesterday we had a really bad thing happen in our city. A father threw his child from a bridge! Why does this kind of thing happen? Unfortunately the child died today in hospital from her injuries.
This is the link to the story.

I'm over it already
What's it been? A week since new year's............. I know I didn't make any resolution but come on, I have been treating myself better this week, better than before, omelette's for lunch, fruit cut up, good portion control for dinner but I seem to be getting bigger!
What's the deal? Maybe this 'being nice to one's self" isn't the right way to go.
I can hear you all now, keep it up Sue, you can do it, soon it will make a difference. Well soon isn't good enough, I want it now, just a little at least. I want it to reflect on the scales, even just a few hundred grams missing, please sir, can't I have some more............................
On another note, I have decided to not wait for the local council to employ me, I'm branching out, I'm going to apply at Centr*link. Surely if there are 40 positions up for grabs, I can get me one of those. The pay is good and you get a RDO a month. Its in a call centre again but the pay is say $6000 to 16000 better than the pay I have now per annum and I get a RDO, the hours of the centre are better than were I am and 15.4% super and I get an RDO. See how I am harping on the RDO, haven't had me one of those for such a long time, its fantastic that a call centre would even have them. Oh better still, paid adoption leave for 12 weeks. Bliss. I have submitted my application on Thursday, the app's close on Monday but I got a call on Friday morning for the phone interview, so just have to wait for the call to go to the assessment centre for 3 hours where a panel interview will be conducted. If I'm successful, I will commence on the 9th of Feb. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

New job maybe?
So a friend of mine got me thinking about applying for a new job, originally I wanted only to apply for a local government role at the council but since that is taking like forever, I have decided maybe something else might be required.
So on looking at the government job boards, have found something in customer service in our centre*ink system which is a federal government role. The role that I am applying for is decent money and even gives me a rostered day off a month and 15.2 or 15.4% superannuation on top of the money which is between $44500 to $55900 per annum. I'm thinking I am liking this. The hours are better than my current position and if successful the start date would be the 9th of Feb. I have had a phone screening today so will wait for the call for a assessment centre interview which takes approximately 3 hours, then a medical and police check.
So what have I got to lose?

So I'm just going to forget that I weighed myself tonight and continue in the denial mode that has worked for me that last few months.
As per my "non" New Years resolution, I am being kinder to myself and eating better. I have made a big batch of fruit salad and have been taking some to work for my snacking times, been eating better at lunch and even eating something for breakfast.
Still my bad time is after dinner watching TV or actually doing anything after dinner includes snacking on something. Tonight it was in front of the computer eating popcorn that I did not microwave but cooked on the stove in a pot (with oil) but that didn't really work that well so not eating it, that's at least a good thing.
I'm really bored and think that I will go to bed, God knows I could do with a early night. My shins are sore which is a pain in the ...... well shins, have only been walking so don't know why they are sore, it's not like I've done allot of said walking.

OMG
I think the neighbours brother has gone away again for his 4-5 day stint, except he didn't tell me, was I just meant to have understood last week that he goes away every Thursday night to Monday morning? I just don't know, but he wasn't there last night and its 8am, surely his car would be there this morning but nope! That would be fine, even if I had to feed the animals on short notice, but the cat is locked in the house. EEERRK. What am I to do? The neighbours have never left a phone number to contact them on or even a spare key to check on the house. SHIT
I am beside myself today whether to call around to every caravan park in the area I think they have gone away to, or even to try and ring the gym that they are members at to see if they will call the mother/daughters mobile, if they even have one. SHIT
I might be panicking over nothing but if he is gone for 4 days, SHIT.
----------------
UPDATE -Crisis averted, tracked the neighbours down via the local join that I knew they joined who then the gym called the neighbours who didn't bother to call me but will have it sorted!
HOW RUDE!!!!!!

First good deed done for 2009
Up at 8am, head over to friends house by 8.30am to medicate Lucky Dog and then feed Lucky Dog in the next hour - TICK
I was able to catch up on a little reading and thinking whilst I had an hour to kill, thinking about some fitness stuff and how to get my butt into shape this year. Not really putting it down as New Years Resolution as I always fall off the track within a few days but may make some personal goals instead.
I hope you all had a simply beautiful New Years celebration with your friends and family, if not in presence but in spirit.
